Baking Pan Converter

Compare round and rectangular baking pans by area. Calculate a recipe multiplier for equal batter depth, with multiple pans and inch or centimeter inputs.

Recipe multiplier

How it works

Enter the original pan and the pan you want to use. Choose round or rectangular shapes and the number of pans. The multiplier is total new surface area divided by total original surface area. Dimensions are stored in centimeters, so switching display units preserves the geometry. Apply the result to the recipe scaler to adjust ingredient quantities.

Example

An 8-inch round pan changed to a 9-inch round pan needs 81/64, or about 1.266 times, the batter for the same depth. Check actual inside dimensions and usable depth. This area comparison does not estimate baking time or guarantee that a particular recipe will suit a different pan.

Frequently asked questions

Where is my recipe saved?

Only in local storage in this browser. There is no account, upload or cross-device synchronization. Clearing browser data removes the saved recipe.

Does scaling change the units?

No. The recipe scaler preserves each ingredient unit. Use the separate ingredient converter when you need a volume-to-weight estimate.

Can I use the pan multiplier to calculate baking time?

No. Pan material, shape, oven behavior and the recipe affect baking. The multiplier compares batter volume at equal depth only.
